It is no secret that we are facing significant obstacles and trying economic times both in our jobs and in our association. We cannot be afraid to ask the hard questions, but we also need to listen and find viable solutions. We must establish a climate of respect for all.

We must raise public awareness of the real learning that goes on everyday in our classrooms, and move the discussion away from test scores as the measure of achievement. We must hold elected officials accountable to give our students and teachers the resources and tools they need to be successful. And we must join together…
